| I REMEMBER |
|
As I sit here contemplating what the New Year will bring, I can’t help but remember the years that have passed.
|
A time when deals were made on a handshake, not a 30 page contract. When a man’s word was his honor. When our elders were addressed by Mr., Mrs., Mamm or Sir and they were treated with respect. When people treated each other fairly, helped you when you needed it and weren’t out to see what they could gain from you. When you were bad as a kid, you got your butt beat without your kid suing you with the help of the child welfare department. When children sat quietly in the classroom and respected their teachers. When Sundays were a day for families to get together, go to church and spend time together. When people respected the American flag and those who gave their lives protecting it and the freedom among other things it blessed us with. When on Sundays, Thanksgiving, New Years, Christmas and our other holidays, every business was closed to give their employers time to enjoy with their families. A time when you purchased a product it said “Made in America” on it, when everything wasn’t written in two different languages, or more. I could go on, but won’t. There are still some of us around that Do Remember. Happy New Year!
