Hello, my name is Hal Bates. I was born and raised here in Colorado Springs, as was my mother. My dad was born in Denver and resided in different parts of the state with his favorite being Rifle, Colorado. At one time or another you have probably seen some films or pictures taken by my uncle Jim Bates. He so loved the area that he turned down a job in Hollywood to stay here for the rest of his life.

I have lived here most of my 55 years and have grown to love the city and the rich history of this area. One of the grandest things about this area is all of the open space that is available for anyone to enjoy. I hope that it will remains that way forever that this beautiful area will also be avalable for our future generations to enjoy.

I started this web site in April of 2005 to inform people about this buitiful area and as a community site for all of  to use. I do this as kind of a hobby when I have the time. I thought it would be nice for the people of city to have an area of our own on the web to share our city. This is really not a for profit site although there are parts set to bring in some income to off set the cost of operating the site.
